The Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC) is pleased to announce that Wynward Insurance Group has maintained its support of the Broker Identity Program at the Full Partner level.

The Program's centre-piece is the BIP symbol known as the BIPPER. The symbol captures the value that insurance brokers bring their clients: choice, coverage, security and peace of mind. By investing in the program, Wynward supports a campaign whose purpose is to raise awareness of the value of the insurance broker distribution network.

The Manitoba government has announced an increase in Retail Sales Tax (RST) from 7% to 8% effective July 1, 2013.

This tax increase applies to new and renewal insurance policies with effective dates of July 1, 2013 or later. If the policy insures a risk in Manitoba, whether or not the purchaser or vendor is a Manitoba resident, the RST applies.

The increase in the tax rate is the only change to be aware of. All other current responsibilities and procedures for collecting the RST remain the same as outlined when the Manitoba government originally announced the application of RST to insurance in 2012.
